What Is Pediatric Chiropractic?

Think of the spine not just as bones, ligaments, and muscles, but rather as a single neurological unit which allows for proper communication between the brain and the body. The brain, spinal cord, and nerve roots are responsible for sending and receiving messages which perform every function in the entire body.

Imagine your nerve roots are a wi-fi network. Do you want your child’s “network” to have one bar or four bars? Allowing their body to communicate efficiently without interference is the key to their bodies being able to adapt to everyday stressors in our environment. Adapting is the key, and this is what chiropractic care helps with.

Dr. Park earned the full pediatric and neurosensory certification from The Pediatric Experience, a renowned mentoring and training program. We have years of experience working with kids diagnosed with SPD, ADHD, ADD, and autism.

As your little one continues to grow, develop, and connect with their environment, it’s extremely important to have your child checked through this process to ensure milestones are achieved. Milestones including holding their head up, sitting up, crawling, and walking are important to the developmental process of your child’s spine and sets the foundation for their future.

Living daily with physical stress, emotional stress, and chemical stress, our bodies need to be able to correctly process and adapt to these stressors EVERY time. Let’s face it, our kids lead busier lives, are exposed to poorer food quality, and deal with more emotional stress from social media.

In many cases, their bodies become overwhelmed, and instead of adapting, they start to compensate. Once compensation starts, the nervous system gets stuck in a sympathetic stress mode, which is built for survival, not growth. When this switch happens within a child’s nervous system, any of the above-mentioned health-related conditions can start to appear. It’s easier to raise healthy kids than try to fix broken adults. That’s why it’s so important that optimal spinal health is achieved and maintained. Kids under chiropractic care commonly report improvement in the following areas:

  • Sleep
  • Behavior
  • Mood
  • Immune system function

  • Digestion
  • Balance
  • Latch

Have you read the research stating 95% of newborns develop interference within their spine during the birth process? This percentage goes up if the child’s delivery was a C-Section, or involved the use of a vacuum, or forceps. If not corrected, this interference may lead to many childhood conditions, such as

  • Acid reflux
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Allergies
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Asthma
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Bed-wetting

  • Breastfeeding Issues
  • Breathing Problems
  • Challenging Behaviors
  • Colic
  • Constipation
  • Developmental Delays
  • Digestive Issues

  • Ear Infections
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Infertility
  • Sensory Processing Disorder
  • Sleeping Troubles
  • Torticollis

Many of us have been told these conditions are “common,” but common isn’t the same as normal. We’re also assured they will grow out of the condition, but have you instead noticed they “grow” into a new condition?

Chiropractic looks at these symptoms differently and turns our focus not on a specific condition, but rather on enhancing the body’s ability to heal itself. We’re not trying to put out the fire; we want to prevent the fire from starting.

Safe, Gentle & Effective Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is completely safe for your child. At Family Advantage Chiropractic Timnath, we only use pressure as needed, based on the individual we’re adjusting. The amount of pressure used to adjust a child is no more than you would use to check a tomato’s ripeness.

We have years of experience working with kids diagnosed with SPD, ADHD, ADD, and autism. We don’t treat labels; many parents have seen amazing results in how their child’s symptoms tend to dramatically improve or decrease when adding chiropractic care into their child’s health care regimen. Chiropractic care does not replace the other medical resources parents have access to; chiropractic helps their child adapt and respond to these resources.
